The Eddie Surman Trust was founded in 1996 following the death of a young man who took his own life on the eve of his 21st birthday. He had recently been diagnosed HIV positive and was put onto medication. In his mind medication equalled illness and he thought he would not have long to live and he wanted to leave this world whilst he was well rather than have his family and friends watch him suffer. The truth is that he would still be here today if he hadn’t let his fear overwhelm him. |
